The first important thing is a strong determination. Unless and until you decide that you will not let distractions enter your mind, any trick will not work. Develop a strong will to remain focused, as this is the first step in this process.
2. Stabilize your mind:
As long as you do not stabilize your mind, things are not going to work out. DO not panic. Take one thing at a time. Do not think anything other than the task at hand. This will not only help you perform the task diligently but also help you develop the cool for completing work with ample focus.
3. Keep away distractions:
Switch off the phone or the mobile data if the notifications keep distracting you. In the initial stages when you are completely able to block out such distractions, take breaks every half an hour to check your phone, but make sure that you don’t spend more than 7-8 minutes on the same.
4. Define your targets:
Things become easy to accomplish when they are measurable. Fix daily targets; divide your day to make time for work/studies as well as entertainment. Stick to this schedule as much as possible.
5. Eat right:
One of the most important things is to eat the right thing, as the wrong food can make you feel drowsy and lethargic. Avoid eating oily food or heavy food, rather resort to fruits, vegetables and nuts.
6. Binaural Beats:
One of the extremely effective ways to improve focus is binaural beats. This is nothing but music if different frequencies that calm the brain and help you focus. You just need to find the right wave for you and see how it works wonders!
7. Reward Yourself:
All work and no play make Jack a dull boy. Remember that if you don’t reward yourself appropriately, you will lose out on the motivation to continue on this path.
8. Don’t overwork yourself:
Staying focused doesn’t mean that you overwork yourself. You need to increase the time dedicated to your chore gradually. It doesn’t matter even if you’re spending 2 hours instead of 5 hours, as long as you give at least 80%-90% of your concentration to those 2 hours.
9. Get enough sleep:
It is very important to get sufficient sleep, or else your brain will not be active enough to focus. At least 6-8 hours of good sleep is important to stay focused.
10. Have interesting breaks:
Merely spending time on your phone or watching television during breaks will not make you feel refreshed enough to get back to work. Take a walk, talk to a friend, or play a sport to energize yourself during the break.
11. Get enough fluids:
The human body is majorly made up of water. Hence it is very important to stay hydrated and intake enough fluids to maintain enough focus through the day.
12. Grab some coffee:
Coffee is another great way to get rid of the sleepiness and wake your brain. If you are not a coffee person, get some tea or milk. But make sure you don’t have too much of it!
Meditation not only calms the mind but also improves focus and memory power. Half an hour of meditation every day is extremely helpful in improving focus.
If your office table or study table looks messy and piled up, clear it up immediately. Too many things on the table remind you of too many tasks to be done, leaving you anxious and panicky.
15. Be confident:
No matter what people say, make sure you stay confident and do your work with conviction. Turn a deaf ear to the negativity and instead, stay positive to stay focused.
