Acne is one of the most common skin problems and most of the people are affected by it. Acne can be caused due to excessive stress, improper diet, hormonal problems, and many other factors. Acne, if not treated, can get worse. So here are 15 home remedies that will help you get rid of acne.

1. Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has antibacterial and antifungal properties. Apply apple cider vinegar on the affected area once or twice a day and let it dry and wash it.

2. Honey and cinnamon mask

Honey and cinnamon are excellent sources of antioxidants. Make a paste of 2 teaspoons of honey and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Apply the paste and let it dry and wash it after 10 minutes.

3. Oatmeal mask

Make a mask of 2 tablespoons of cooked oatmeal and mix it with 2 tablespoons of honey while it’s still hot. Let the mixture cool down and apply it. Once dried; wash your face.

Green tea is rich in antioxidants. Boil green tea in water. Let it cool and apply it on your face with the use of cotton. Let it dry and then wash your face.

5. Honey and mustard powder

Mix honey with the powder of mustard seeds. Apply it on pimples or blemishes and let it dry for 15 minutes and then rinse it off.

6. Aloe vera

Aloe Vera gel is mostly used for a variety of skin conditions.

  1. Scrape the gel from the aloe plant out with a spoon or you can buy the gel.
  2. Apply this gel on the skin.
  3. Repeat 1–2 times per day, or as desired.

7. Turmeric

Make a thick paste of turmeric and water. If you have dry skin, you can use honey instead of water. Apply the paste and allow it to dry for 15 to 20 minutes and then wash it with water. Having antiseptic properties, turmeric helps in reducing pimple.

Exfoliation is the removal of the top layer of dead skin cells. This can be done with the help of a brush or by simply scrubbing. Exfoliation helps to unclog pores and thus reduces acne.

  1. Mix equal quantity of sugar or salt with coconut oil.
  2. Scrub the skin with this mixture.
  3. Rinse your face. Repeat as desired.

9. Olive Oil

Olive oil helps to lighten the pimple marks. Slightly warm few drops of olive oil and massage gently in a circular motion for a few minutes before going to bed and leave it overnight. Doing this will not only reduce pimple marks but will also reduce inflammation around the pimples.

Make a mixture of 1 teaspoon of salt in 3 teaspoons of hot water. On cooling (lukewarm temperature), dip a cotton ball and dab it on the pimple. After 10 minutes, wash your face with cold water. This solution contains a mild microbial agent that will heal pimples.

Mix 1 teaspoon neem powder, multani mitti and few drops of rose water and make a thick paste. Apply this paste on the pimples. Wash the face once this paste is dried. Neem has natural antifungal, antibacterial and blood purifying properties that will prevent pimples.

12. Milk and honey

Wash off the face with warm water and then apply half a  tablespoon of milk which is mixed with 1 tablespoon of honey with the help of a cotton ball. Leave the mask for 15-20 minutes to dry and rinse it off. This will give a natural glow to your face and prevent pimples.

Wrap the ice cube in a cloth or a napkin and rub it on the pimples slowly. This will help to reduce inflammation, keep the bacteria out, and also, close the pores.

Mix 2 tablespoon of chopped mint leaves, oatmeal powder and honey together. Make a paste of this and apply it on your face. Let it dry.  Now, rinse off the mask with cold water. Mint helps in unclogging the pores and removes the excess of oil that leads to pimple formation.

15. Garlic

Take a garlic clove and cut it into small pieces. Now, rub the garlic pieces on the pimples and let it stay for 15-30 minutes and then wash your face. Garlic is a natural antibacterial that works great on pimples.
